In Valorian times, only one god was worshiped in Aeldaria, the androgyne Iadis. This deity had two aspects, a female one and a male one. Among many other things, the female aspect stood for love, fertility, compassion and magic, and the male for reason, honor, technology and justice. Though sometimes in conflict with each other, these aspects were still two sides of the same being, symbolising the balance that must always exist in the universe — the balance between male and female, light and dark, life and death, heart and mind.
But 344 years after the fall of Valoria, when the Church was being restored just like the rest of the Human society, something occurred which is known as The Schism. The male and female clergy could not agree on how the New Church was to be organised, and with the High Priest and High Priestess of Valoris long gone there was no spiritual leaders to solve the conflict. The Schism resulted in the Church being split in two, each side worshiping one aspect of Iadis as a separate, dominant deity. These "new" gods were given the names Jhondra and Davion, meaning simply female and male in the High Valorian tongue.
